Youth accelerator workshops across the African continent

2022 LEADERSHIP ACCELERATORS IN KAMPALA
The African Leadership Academy (ALA) partnered with the Project Management Institute (PMI) to carry out a series
of youth accelerator workshops across the African continent to empower young people with the skills and mindset
in entrepreneurship and Project Management for an increasingly changing and complex world.
Under the same arrangement, on the 5th February 2022, the PMI Uganda Chapter, through the volunteers (James
Katumba, Peace Kaahwa and Christine M Kiggundu) under Youth and Social Impact facilitated a workshop dubbed
the “2022 Leadership Accelerators in Kampala”.

The one day’s event was hosted at MOTIV Uganda.
The target group was between the age bracket of fifteen (15) to eighteen (18) years and the event was successfully
attended by students from schools that included Lubiri Senior Secondary School, British School of Kampala, Agha
Khan Secondary School and Watoto High School.

The deliberations of the day were based on ALA’s framework for problem solving known as BUILD “Believe,
Understand, Invent, Listen, Deliver” where the Volunteers particularly contributed towards the “Invent” module by
imparting basic knowledge on Project management using the PMI Skills for Life presentation.
The face-to-face mode of delivery was adopted for a richer learning experience with minimal distraction and higher
concentration for the students. They were able to participate in some pre-planned activities that required physical
attendance as well as easily contribute to the open discussions that happened after every session
